John Brickman, a partner and head of the firm’s litigation group, has been appointed a Commissioner of the New York State Commission on Legislative Ethics. The commission adjudicates complaints of violation of state law governing the conduct of members and employees of the State legislature and candidates for the legislature. The commission also issues advisory opinions regarding issues of legislative ethics, and handles financial disclosure statements of state legislature members and candidates.
Mr. Brickman previously served as a Commissioner of the former New York State Commission on Public Integrity, which oversaw the conduct of state employees and lobbyists, and is a member of the Town of North Hempstead Working Group to update the Town’s Ethics Code. He lectures and writes regularly about legal and lawyers’ ethical topics. His law practice concentrates in the resolution of business disputes and contested trusts and estates matters.
