C. Jason Kim practices in the area of real estate transactions and advises clients on matters including acquisitions, dispositions, financings, development matters, leasing transactions, and loan workouts and restructurings.
Mr. Kim represents investors, developers, and financial institutions in all types of commercial real estate transactions in New York and throughout the United States. He is experienced in all aspects of real estate acquisition, disposition, financing and development, including joint venture formation, site acquisition, entitlements and permits, the structuring of debt and equity financing, and construction agreements. Mr. Kim represents landlords and tenants in office and retail leases, including build-to-suit transactions. Mr. Kim also has extensive experience representing lenders and borrowers in the origination of loans secured by real estate, and with workouts and restructurings of existing financings, including foreclosures of real property and under the Uniform Commercial Code.
Previously, from 2013 to 2015, Mr. Kim was general counsel to New York State Homes & Community Renewal, the state’s integrated agencies focusing on affordable housing and community revitalization, where he oversaw legal matters for all agency operations including the financing of affordable and mixed-income housing developments, legislation, asset management matters, litigation, and other program and regulatory matters. Before that, Mr. Kim practiced in the real estate group at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom, LLP in New York. Mr. Kim received his law degree in 1999 from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law (Boalt Hall) and his undergraduate degree from the University of Chicago. Mr. Kim is admitted to practice in New York.
