Brian Grieco practices in the firm’s Financial Restructuring, Bankruptcy and Creditors’ Rights department. He has extensive experience in business reorganization, bankruptcy and commercial law, debtor and creditor rights, and insolvency related litigation. He has represented individual and corporate clients, including trade creditors, bondholders, stockholders, hedge funds, commercial banks and other lenders, in chapter 7, 9, 11, 13 and 15 bankruptcy cases, out-of-court workouts, and non-bankruptcy commercial law matters.
Mr. Grieco’s clients have comprised debtors, creditors, committees, and other parties in various chapter 11 cases, including purchasers in section 363 sales and secured creditors. He also has experience in fraudulent conveyance, successor liability, and other insolvency related actions. He has particular experience representing creditors in complex contested matters and adversary proceedings regarding lien enforcement and avoidance, claims’ objections, automatic stay issues, and plan confirmation.
Mr. Grieco also has experience counseling clients regarding non-bankruptcy business reorganization, corporate and deal structure, secured lending, and general contract and commercial law.
Before joining the firm, he spent 12 years with Hogan Lovells (formerly Hogan & Hartson) and Coudert Brothers, two major international law firms. Earlier, he was a Senior Securities Compliance Examiner with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission. Mr. Grieco served as an intern clerk for Judge Shira A. Scheindlin of the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York and as an Associate Managing Editor of the Brooklyn Journal of International Law.
