Our municipal and public authority practice includes the representation of villages, special districts, a water authority, and other governmental bodies. We act as general counsel to boards of trustees, boards of appeals, planning boards, architectural review committees, and landmark preservation committees. As such, we provide continuing legal advice to such boards and committees and, as needed, draft, revise, and amend, local laws, resolutions, contracts, deeds, easements, and other legal instruments.

We also represent individuals and developers and act as special counsel to other attorneys who believe that they can take advantage of our firm’s practice of over 50 years in the municipal area with their applications and appearances before public bodies and their transactions with government agencies.

In conjunction with the firm’s litigation attorneys, we regularly represent municipal boards and committees in Article 78 proceedings, when their determinations are challenged, and in other contested proceedings. Such representation includes trials, appeals, mediation, and settlement negotiations.
