Our litigation practice, which enjoys an excellent reputation among the bench and bar, takes us throughout the New York metropolitan area and elsewhere. We are involved in a wide variety of commercial, corporate, real estate, unfair competition, trust and estate, municipal, and other contested matters before state and federal trial and appellate courts, arbitration panels, and agencies of government.

The experience and skill of our trial lawyers are major strengths of our litigation department. Our litigators have substantial trial experience and regularly proceed to trial to try cases when favorable resolution cannot otherwise be reached. Diligent strategy analysis and preparation of each case complement our advocacy, both oral and written, and enhance the likelihood of our securing favorable outcomes. Our litigators also are skilled negotiators; we seek to resolve disputes favorably for our clients at the earliest opportunity. Above all else, we are committed to achieving our clients' objectives effectively and efficiently, whether a matter is resolved by negotiated settlement or contested hearing or trial on the merits.

While our general litigation practice involves us in a wide range of legal disputes, we have worked extensively in certain core areas of litigation practice. Among our areas of concentration, we represent proprietors of family-owned and other closely-held corporations and business entities in disputes with their co-owners, including dissolution proceedings, shareholder derivative actions, and the like. We also have concentrated extensively in disputes involving professionals, including "business divorce" matters involving the dissolution or breakup of professional practices. In addition, our firm devotes considerable attention to other business and real estate disputes. We also have a significant estate and trust controversy practice involving guardianships and contested probate and trust proceeding matters.

Our litigators are regular practitioners in the Commercial Division of the New York State Supreme Court, as well as Federal Court. We also participate actively in alternative dispute resolution (ADR), including arbitration and mediation before the American Arbitration Association, the National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD), and other ADR tribunals.

Our litigation lawyers work closely with our firm’s other practice groups on a wide range of client matters.  Our goal is to add value and coordinated efficiency for all legal services involving other major areas of our practice in commercial, business, and real property transactions, municipal and zoning matters, and trusts and estates.
